Who runs Pivot
Pivot is run by Pivot Puzzles, at pivotpuzzles.com.
What we store
We store an anonymous player id and a hashed device secret, your display name if you set one, your Daily Board scores and move logs, and your time-zone offset (used to work out your local day). If you use the app, we also store your Turn bank balance and a record of your purchases (the product and the store's transaction id). There are no accounts, no email addresses and no passwords.
Analytics
We use PostHog to count gameplay events such as starting and finishing a run (in the app, also ad, purchase and reminder events). It sets no cookies, the website has no advertising, and we do not sell data.
In the Pivot app
The website shows no ads and has no purchases. The Pivot app on iOS and Android is different, and this section covers it.
Ads: the app shows rewarded and between-run ads through Google AdMob. AdMob may use your device advertising identifier to choose and measure ads. Where the law requires it, the app asks for your consent first (Google's consent message), and on iOS it asks your permission before any tracking. You can say no and still play.
Purchases: Remove Ads and Turn Packs are processed by Apple or Google. We record them through RevenueCat under your anonymous player id. We never see your payment details. Remove Ads stops the ads between runs and makes revives and bonus Turns free; after a reinstall, Restore purchases in Settings brings it back. Turns in your Turn bank belong to your player id and are used in Endless only.
Reminders: Daily reminders are scheduled on your device. Reminders are never sent from our servers. We collect no push token for reminders; the separate Friends and Versus push below is the only exception.
Friends and Versus
Friends: each player gets a friend code, and a friendship is stored as a pair of player ids when someone uses a code or a link; either person can remove it. Friends see your display name, your Daily score for the day and your streak.
Online status: while Pivot is open and visible, it tells our server you are active, and your friends can see that you are online ("Online now") or a "last active" time such as "Played 5 min ago". In Settings you can hide this, and then we stop recording it and friends see nothing.
Versus: a duel stores its seed, each player's score and the full move log of each run, so we can replay it and verify the score before showing it. Players in a duel see each other's display name and score. An open challenge link is not private: anyone who has the link, including people you never sent it to, can open it and see the challenger's display name and score until it expires.
Push notifications (app only): if you allow notifications, the app sends us a push token so we can tell you about a challenge or a reply. We delete a token when it stops being valid. The website uses no push.
Ranked Versus (app only): ranked leaderboards show your display name, rating and tier to all ranked players. Your ranked runs are replayed to other players as ghosts, and a ghost shows only your display name, rating and score over time, not your moves. Runs with implausible timing are kept flagged for review and count as a loss.
Weekly League and pokes
League (app only): once you join the Weekly League, the other players in your league group see your display name, your weekly score and how many days you played this week. Standings are worked out from your verified Daily scores. The website has no League.
Pokes: a friend can poke you if you have not played today's Daily. The poke is visible to you, with the friend's display name, and can arrive as a push notification if you allowed them. Your Monthly Mosaic is private to you and is built from your own Daily results.
Device linking
A linking code is a short-lived, single-use code that lets a second device play as the same player. Codes expire after 15 minutes.
How long we keep it
We keep this data for as long as the player id exists.
